Waratah Room
2 to 3 years

Warm, stable and responsive relationships are fundamental to children’s development and wellbeing. In the Waratah room there is a big focus on building those bonds with your child.
A sense of belonging gives your child the confidence to explore the world and learn. And as this happens, they learn how to think, understand, communicate, behave, show emotions and develop their social skills.
As a toddler, your child is opening up to new challenges as their communication skills expand and they learn to concentrate, experiment and play. Our qualified educators support this journey through a curriculum of play-based learning activities to help your child explore their own interests and strengths. We also use the Abecedarian approach to help toddlers develop valuable language and literacy skills. Some of our core values are

Freedom and encouragement for the children to discover and explore their own ideas and interests. |

Providing opportunities to develop and foster each child’s independence and self-help skills. |

Offering a broad range of messy, sensory, creative, musical and imaginative experiences to support creative expression. |
Australia’s Early Years Learning Framework “Belonging, Being and Becoming” is at the heart of our approach. The framework’s emphasis is on play-based learning, we incorporate this by offering a variety of ways to learn in which then supports each child’s individual needs.
We are a proudly multicultural and it is very important to us that we have the resources, skills and knowledge necessary to help children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including indigenous backgrounds, settle into GCIT Children’s Centre. It is imperative we lead children in recognising and respecting similarities and differences in cultures.

Our Experienced Educators

Cindy
Lead Educator
Diploma in Early Childhood Education
and Care
I’m Cindy, originally from Taiwan, and I’ve been in Australia for about nine years. Because of Covid, my family and I relocated to the Gold Coast almost four years ago. During my maternity leave, I decided to pursue my Certificate 3 and joined the industry after moving here and I am now studying for a Graduate Diploma of Education in Early childhood.
As my son just started prep, I recognize how crucial Early Childhood Education and Care is especially in the first five years of life. I’m dedicated to using my knowledge in Early Childhood Education. Creating engaging environments and activities that help children become confident individuals is my passion. I’m excited to begin this learning journey with you and look forward to the year ahead.
